Resume of Mr. Barlow's Case.

Mr. Barlow was an In-Patient in this hospital from 24th Janry. to 14th February with hepatitis. The attack was preceded by dysentery and on admission there was increase in the liver dulness with tenderness on pressure and a temperature chart very suggestive of pus.

He, however, recovered entirely and was discharged quite cured and continued so for two months when he went to Singapore for a trip. He was landed from the steamer into hospital there with dysentery. The temperature began to rise two days before leaving the hospital and continued to be of a remittent type till his return to Hongkong and to hospital on 2nd June. He now had an extra symptom, great pain over the region of the spleen, though there was at no time any increase in the splenic or hepatic dulness.

The temperature slowly improved and after going through another attack of dysentery in hospital, he left quite cured on the 2nd July. In view of this past history and his condition of anaemia, he was at once granted a medical certificate for leave home.
